Perbandingan Alternatif Distribusi Bahan Bakar Gas untuk Substitusi Minyak Tanah Sektor Rumah Tangga

Dalam rangka menunjang program pemerintah untuk mengurangi subsidi dengan substitusi minyak tanah sektor rumah tangga oleh gas bumi dilakukan kajian perbandingan alternatif distribusi gas bumi yang layak untuk diterapkan. Kajian dilakukan melalui survei literatur dan penelusuran informasi perkembangan penelitian di bidang moda penyimpanan dan distribusi gas bumi skala kecil meliputi penyimpanan dan distribusi hidrat gas, adsorben gas bumi dan tabung gas SENJI serta LPG 3 kg. Setelah dibandingkan berdasarkan parameter teknis operasional dan keekonomian, alternatif penyimpanan dan distribusi melalui tabung LPG 3 kg dan tabung gas SENJI memiliki keunggulan dibandingkan hidrat gas dan adsorben gas bumi di antaranya tekanan operasi yang lebih rendah, temperatur operasi yang sesuai dengan temperatur ambient daerah tropis, efisiensi pemanfaatan gas 100% pada tekanan atmosferik, bahan material tabung yang relatif lebih mudah serta kemudahan dalam pengembangan standar peralatan. Walaupun demikian, kapasitas penyimpanan dalam tabung gas SENJI relatif kecil dibanding kapasitas penyimpanan hidrat gas dan adsorben gas bumi. Selain itu, berdasarkan rekomendasi standar US Department of Transportation, sebelum tabung gas SENJI diproduksi secara massal untuk digunakan secara luas oleh masyarakat perlu dilakukan analisis confinement test yaitu pengamatan dan pengujian unjuk kerja tabung gas SENJI di dalam ruangan tertutup yang terbakar.
