Author Guidelines

The Oil and Gas Publication Bulletin (LPMGB) is the official journal of the LEMIGAS Oil and Gas Testing Center. Manuscripts in English are accepted from researchers at any institution, both domestic and international.

Articles

Manuscripts are to be organized in the following format and sequence, with all pages, beginning with that for the running head, numbered consecutively.

  1. Running head : Provide the last names of authors (use et al. for more than 2) and a shortened title. The entire running head may not exceed 60 characters and spaces
  2. Title: The title of the manuscript is written solely in English. A good title should use as few words as possible while clearly conveying the content of the manuscript. A catchy or striking title is generally easier to reference, especially when conducting a search using a browser application. The title is written in English only.
  3. Abstract: The abstract is written in English using the present continuous tense and consists of a single paragraph with a minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 300 words. It serves as a general summary of the paper or manuscript, acting as an 'advertisement' for the work and the ideas it contains. The abstract does not include pictures, tables, or references that are mentioned in the main body of the paper. When readers see the title, their first step in evaluating the written work is to read and understand the abstract.
  4. Introduction:This section serves as an introduction, guiding the reader through the overall context of a specific area of science, industry, or other relevant fields. It explains why the study presented in this paper is important. As illustrated in the picture in Chapter II, the scope of the Introduction section narrows from broad to specific.
  5. Methodology: This section, which can also be called 'Methods and Materials' or 'Methodology', is a section that explains with sufficient level of detail, but not too complicated, so that interested readers can understand it.
  6. Results and Discussion: The 'Results' and 'Discussions' sections in a scientific paper may either be separated or combined. For the LPMGB journal, both sections are put in one integrated section. This section presents all of main results, both quantitative and qualitative, from the application of the full method and their accompanying discussions. The scope of discussions broadens from a small scope related to the results of method application towards discussions related to fulfillment of the study objectives and their implications for the scientific area and industry/stakeholders in general.
  7. Conclusion: The Conclusion section is the final part of the main part of a scientific paper that presents all the conclusions from all the things discussed in the 'Results and Discussion' section, plus the implications for the scientific field and/or aspects of its application. Conclusions are NOT a summary of the manuscript and any addition of an overestimation of conclusions should be avoided. Conclusions of a scientific manuscript for LPMGB are made in the form of short paragraphs, each paragraph containing a conclusion and explanations that are deemed necessary to accompany it. The number of paragraphs is adjusted to the number of conclusion points to be presented.
  8. Acknowledgement: This section acknowledges the institutions that sponsor and support research implementation, as well as individuals who contribute to the creation of scientific papers but whose contributions are not substantial enough to warrant authorship.

  10. Glossary of Terms and Symbols: This section is presented in a table format that includes symbols (such as those found in mathematical equations), abbreviations, and specific terms. Each entry is accompanied by a brief but clear definition of the symbols (along with their units), the full forms of the abbreviations, and the meanings of the specific terms. This "Glossary of Terms and Symbols" is designed to enhance readers' understanding of the information presented in scientific papers. The table consists of three columns: the first column lists specific terms/abbreviations/symbols, the second column provides definitions, and the third column specifies the units.
  11. References: This section serves as a comprehensive list of all publications and personal communications (from reputable and recognized individuals) that are referenced in the manuscript of scientific writings. Preference will be given to publications from well-documented journals or scientific conferences. However, a limited number of unpublished documents, such as institutional reports or credible internet sources, may also be included.
    References should follow the APA (American Psychological Association) citation style as outlined in LPMGB’s guidelines. It is required to include at least three citations from SCOG and two citations from the LPMGB journal. The total number of citations in the author’s manuscript must be a minimum of 21, and all references should be from the last five years.
  12. Literature cited: All literatures used as references must be cited in text, and vice versa all literatures cited in text must be written as references. References should be at least ten sources highly related to the topic with the following conditions:
    • 80% of the references must be published within the last five years.      
    • 80% of the references must be in the category of primary sources (i.e., journal, published proceeding, thesis, dissertation).

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • All authors have approved submission.
  • The results or ideas contained therein are original.
  • The work has not been published previously.
  • The paper is not under consideration for publication else-where and will not be submitted elsewhere unless rejected by the LPMGB or withdrawn by written notification to the editor of the LPMGB.
  • If accepted for publication and published, the article, or portions thereof, will not be published elsewhere unless consent is obtained in writing from the editor of the LPMGB.
  • Reproduction and fair use of articles in the LPMGB are permitted in accordance with the Indonesia Copyright Revision Law, provided the intended use is for nonprofit educational purposes. All other use requires consent and fees where appropriate.
  • Title already brief and concise, written in English are using Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) with paper format size A4. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • All parts of original manuscripts are to be typed one-and-a-half-spaced. Type should be 11 point (Times New Roman). Photo reduction, even in tables, is not acceptable. Proportional spacing and hyphenation should not be used, i.e., do not justify right-hand margin. Do not leave extra space between paragraphs in the text. Only a single font should be used.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • Your manuscript will be reviewed if you provide 2 to 3 peer reviewers in accordance with the scope of the manuscript. (Put them in the "Comments for the Editor")

Authors who publish in journal of (LPMGB) retain full copyright ownership of their work. In keeping with the journal’s commitment to open access, all articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Authors are encouraged to disseminate their work as widely as possible. They retain the right to reuse their published article in future scholarly works, such as books, conference presentations, or teaching materials.
