Evaluation of The Mixing Process of Solar and Dexlite in A Single Line Multi-Product Distribution System While Maintaining Physical Characteristics

In the Single Line Multi Product (SLMP) fuel distribution system, efficient interface management between products relies heavily on the consistency of the fuel’s physical characteristics, particularly the Solar and Dexlite mixture. Critical parameters such as density, specific gravity, and API gravity influence the flow and contamination control in pipeline systems, as well as overall distribution performance. Therefore, density at 15°C, specific gravity, and API gravity were measured using thermometry and hydrometry methods to obtain accurate data. The results indicate that the density of Solar is 0.8515 kg/L, Dexlite is 0.8496 kg/L, and the mixture is 0.8505 kg/L. The specific gravity of Solar is recorded at 0.8519, Dexlite at 0.85, and the mixture at 0.8509, while the API gravity for Solar is 34.59, Dexlite at 34.966, and the mixture at 34.79. According to ASTM D1298 standards, diesel fuel should have a density between 0.82–0.86 kg/L and API gravity between 30 and 40. The results demonstrate that this mixture fully complies with applicable international standards, which is essential for ensuring smooth distribution in the SLMP system, reducing the risk of product contamination, and enhancing operational efficiency overall.
