Kinerja Mesin Spark Ignition (SI) Berbahan Bakar Campuran Bensin-Metanol (M-20) Dan Bensin-Etanol (E-20) Pada Variasi Nilai Oktan

Bahan bakar alkohol seperti etanol dan metanol saat ini dianggap sebagai alternatif bahan  bakar yang ramah lingkungan dan dapat digunakan untuk campuran dengan bahan bakar  lain. Dalam penelitian ini, etanol dan metanol dicampurkan ke dalam bensin dengan nilai  RON 88 dan RON 90 menjadi E-20 dan M-20. Selanjutnya digunakan dalam sepeda motor  uji dengan sistem pengapian busi empat langkah satu silinder dengan karburator untuk  mendapatkan keluaran kinerja mesin seperti daya, torsi, konsumsi bahan bakar dalam  satuan liter/km dan emisi gas buang untuk putaran rendah. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan  bahwa daya dan torsi bahan bakar campuran E-20 lebih tinggi dibandingkan M-20,  sedangkan konsumsi bahan bakar untuk variasi kecepatan 40 km/jam, 60km/jam dan  80km/jam bahan bakar campuran M-20 lebih tinggi dibandingkan E-20. Tingkat emisi  CO yang dihasilkan M-20 lebih rendah dibandingkan E-20, namun tingkat emisi HC  yang dihasilkan M-20 lebih tinggi dibandingkan E-20.
